How to write a cheque
Write the name of the payee 1.
Make sure to write the name as close to the start as possible.
2. Write the amount payable in the Box
This section must be numerically and again written as close to the box
line as possible. Include to horizontal lines at the finish of the box.
3. Write the amount payable in words
Conclude this section with the phrase ONLY!

4. Write the date in the top corner
Remember cheques are only valid for 6 months from the date written
before they go stale
5. Sign the cheque in the bottom corner of the
cheque and have your senior treasurer sign
near once they are happy with the expenditure

6. Complete the cheque with ‘A/C Payee only’
and fill in the replica stubble (if you have an older cheque book)
CROSSING CHEQUES: Any cheque crossed with two parallel (or those provided on the
cheque) lines means that the cheque can only be deposited directly into an account
with a bank . This cheque you can effectively protect the cheques you write from
being stolen and cashed by the wrong people!
